Christmas PJs
Happy Christmas Eve!
It has been a lovely day. I had my short morning shift at work; everyone was in good spirits, and it stayed pleasantly quiet. Away by one, and straight home to begin the festivities in earnest—in other words, getting the gammon cooking. The weather stayed beautiful… sunny, crisp and clear. Later in the afternoon, we broke out the Christmas pyjamas, and I got this shot of my lovely boys. From the left, Rafferty, Monty, Milo, Gabriel and Dash… who seem to have conveniently arranged themselves in order of age!
Ed and Tara joined us for supper later… a cold collation of cheeses, hot bread, mini pies, quiche, a charcuterie board, pizza slices, and a couple of baked Camembert. The boys decided to have an impromptu wine-tasting evening, and I introduced Monty and Dash to the magical flavour combination of port and stilton. After supper, it’s turkey time… we’re having lamb and duck for the main dinner tomorrow, but it’s nice to have some cold turkey in the house for sandwiches, bubble & squeak, turkey curry etc. It takes up the whole oven, so I decided to cook the bird overnight and stayed up on a lonely basting vigil until 1.30 am when the turkey was done, and my watch was ended.
