The Pensioner

Postie

A relaxing day, just as I’d wished. A trip over to the boatyard to get the batteries on the charge and who did I come across but Craig, our postie - a fellow season ticket holder up at the JTs. He gave me his Christmas blessing. Home for a bit of gardening, surely the most satisfying pastime ever, just pottering away, sweeping, clipping and tidying the borders. With the US politics of 1968 in my ears, mind.
Later we discovered that young F had never seen Die Hard, so clearly that had to be watched, before we noshed and finally stepped out to the watch night service up at Wardie just before midnight. Born this happy morning, eh? I like that line a great deal and it felt good to step back home under the great starry dome.
Merry Christmas everyone.
