Orion

The only photo I took all day, although you can argue that’s a cheat because it’s really a stack of 200 photos that started at about 10pm the night before. Oh well.

Still learning with my new toytelescope. This is the Orion Nebula. If you find Orion’s Belt in the night sky, then hanging down from the middle of the belt is Orion’s Sword and the middle bright light of the sword is this nebula. Another object you can see with the naked eye, but not with this detail. It’s a ‘stellar nursery’ - new stars are being formed in there.

The day was uneventful. Went shopping for a few last-minute items we didn’t have (like sprouts). Shops were mobbed, of course. The queue at the cheese shop was bonkers.

Kids stayed around after food and we played board games. And it was a lot of fun.
