If we could talk to the animals
This red squirrel is a regular at the bird feeder, and it is now clear in our little wildlife corner of the balcony that the animals and birds have a feeding hierarchy and can at times be very vocal.
But what are they saying? Well, with the help of A.I we may soon know the answer, for scientists are using it to help decode their languages.
One ground breaking research project at M.I.T. is working with sperm whales and similar projects to understand the language of animals are going on around the world.
All those of us who own or have ever owned a pet know full well what the cats and dogs want to say to us, usually they want food. Only better food. And more often.
If we could understand the interior life of animals, it could lead to better treatment of them and spur on conservation.
After all, if they are sentient beings then they too have rights.
