Between fen and mountains

More santons

We did the last Christmas shopping in town at the supermarket early on.
Even at 9 am, there were no more places in the car park. We did not buy much as we will be leaving on Boxing day, just a guineafowl, some smoked salmon and an ice cream log. In the afternoon, we drove up to Py to visit Francoise, the Maire, and Chris for tea and cake. There was snow, but the road had been cleared. Chris showed us a lot of his memorabilia from when he was captain of the Antarctic survey vessel all of which was very interesting. Francoise showed us her santons, a Provençal tradition. The collection was begun by her mother 60 years ago and a few figures have been added each year. If you look carefully, you will see different trades people, the sardane dancers, village people, bandits and of course the nativity.
