Where are all the people?
It's two days before Christmas and where are all the people? The town is quiet, the beaches are quiet, the holiday lets are empty.
Ann says she remembers the days when Christmas was almost as busy as the summer. Two days before Christmas there would be loads of people mooching about the shops, taking their pooches for walks on the beaches and it would be difficult to find a seat in a pub/restaurant. Not so this year. It would seem that the cost of living crisis has really started to hit St Ives hard. Admittedly it is very expensive here, but where are the rich people who used to frequent St Ives in the winter in their Range Rovers? There's even spaces in the car parks. ….......There's never spaces in the car parks?!!
Oh well, ho hum.................. do I care? I walked along all the beaches this afternoon and apart from playing with a couple of really speedy Whippet type dogs, I had the whole of the beaches to myself. Yay! Unfortunately it was raining for most of my walk but I don't care about things like that either.
EDIT - Ann always helps me with my BLIP and then when she's published it, she looks back to see what we were doing in previous years. It would seem that last year we had the same title and were moaning about the same lack of people. Don't you just love BLIP for reminding you of what was happening in the world on the same date in previous years?
