Brodie And Julia Are Baptised

Sunday and Pat and I are sitting in the front pews of Mayfield Salisbury Church in Edinburgh which have been reserved for the ‘family members’ of Brodie Arlo Millar and Brodie’s cousin Julia. Both are to be baptised this Sunday.

Pat and I are Godparents to Brodie’s father Euan Millar. It is a joyful and uplifting experience for all of the ‘family members’.

Afterwards there is a lunch and celebrations for us all at ‘Mr and Mrs Dog’s residence who are Euan’s parents.

Today’s entry is of my view of the church interior. I also understand that the whole service is available on line. I was most impressed with the use of ‘technology’ to enhance the service.

No need for a hymn book when the text is displayed on a screen. Also displayed were the Bible readings and prayers.

The weather was wet and windy although the walk from Mr and Mrs Dog’s residence to the church was blessed with an abscence of rain.

Being one of the designated drivers apart from a small glass of champagne’  we celebrated with a fine lunch while the ‘designated passengers’ enjoyed rather more glasses of bubbly.

The range of subjects discussed was wide and covered many topics. Arts, Finance, Technolgies, Families etc etc.

One young engineer was interested to know that I had been using Computer Aided Design for 45 years. He was surprised when I showed him a CAD app working on my iPhone.

A great day. Pat and I left about 6:00 p.m and headed home discussing the events of the day. The weather was still wet and windy.

On the way home, we stopped in at Morrison Supermarkets to buy four of their magnificent gluten-free Pizzas with toppings made to order.

We enjoyed one while watching ‘Shetland’. We were actually quite hungry.

A memorable day.
