Circle is Unbroken
Walking through Shepherd's Bush from Ravenscourt Park brought back all sorts of memories, but what fickle things they are. Fred and I couldn't remember what used to be in the spot where several brand-new buildings stood. We must have walked past that spot hundreds of times when we lived there. We passed by both places that we rented before we bought somewhere (and couldn't afford to live in London's Zone 2). The feel of the area hadn't changed, despite the attempts at gentrification. That's comforting as I always liked the scruffy mish-mash of Shepherd's Bush.
At the diner next to Bush Hall, we met our friend Simon (from Trembling Bells) and somehow managed to tag on to the band's special deal menu, which was a bonus. Simon was happy to chat to us rather than discuss the set list and we caught up with a few months of news. Simon was buzzing over being asked to support Paul Weller at Edinburgh Castle on the Sunday - what a scoop! I heard they did pretty good.
The Bush Hall concert was way too hot for comfort. Goodness knows how the band coped, especially Mike Heron. Poor Mike broke his elbow after tripping on a bit of pavement at the start of the tour and he was in a plaster cast.
I've seen the Trembling Bells quite a few times now and they grow stronger every time. I love all the collaborations they form. Onwards and upwards.
