Ready...

Fruit and nuts, ready to be mixed tomorrow with the rest of the ingredients for a Christmas cake. Not the chocolate orange cake I've made in recent years, but a much healthier one that I used to bake many years ago. It contains no butter, no marzipan, and no chocolate, but it's delicious!

I had intended to bake the cake late this afternoon, but time ran out due to a Royal Mail fiasco. I'd almost finished preparing the fruit and nuts when my phone pinged - an email informing me that my parcels had been delivered, with a photo of where they'd been left. Impossible to tell from that where they might be, so I checked around the house and in the sheds. No sign of them. Went round to several immediate neighbours, but they didn't have them. Posted the photo on a couple of community pages on Facebook and, about an hour later, someone who lives towards the bottom of the hill found them in her porch, and messaged me. What a relief - they contain Christmas presents! Just occasionally social media is useful!
