Our Hydro Scheme.......

Had to meet and guide an engineer to our hydro scheme turbine house today which seemed quite straight forward and we did get there ok ...... and then the heavens opened! It was quite incredible, I have never seen rain like it!

The job was completed within a few minutes and the engineer was keen to get back to the main road so that he could continue on to his next job. Getting out of the turbine house only took seconds but within that few moments, trying to get a padlock back on the door I was absolutely soaked from head to toe. I then had to open and close gates to get us out so I told the poor engineer (who could not go home and change like me) to stay in his vehicle and I would see to them as I knew he had a long journey ahead.

I could hardly breathe as the rain continued to come down in an absolute deluge! Thankfully it was not cold but I was soon shivering on my journey back in the car. I was never so glad to get out of every bit of clothing and change.

We went back up to see the the dam later this evening and this is how it looked after the flow had eased! It was going right over the top of the walkway earlier - we hadn't seen that before!
