Cake or not?
Well here we are, the 4th Sunday of Advent, only a few days before the start of Christmas. This is the day when we focus on the meeting of Elizabeth and Mary both pregnant with sons who would live extraordinary lives. What must that meeting between two ordinary young mums have been like. For Elizabeth when her baby (John the Baptist) leapt in her womb on recognising the presence of his Saviour, again yet to be born
We had a baptism in church today, a young man in his late 20s from Kerala - my part of the world. It was lovely to see the responses from him and his wife .
After church we came home and I did some cooking. A second batch of cranberry sauce and some chocolate tiffin tray bake. Colin's cousin dropped in so we paused for a cuppa and a chat. After our regular hot roll for lunch, we organised Katy's presents then headed down to see her.
They always make their family birthday cakes and this time Isobel, inspired by a Netflix(I think) programme called something like Cake or not cake, dreamed up this idea. The top of the cake, chocolate with ganache, as they were quick to tell me, topped by a fondant cherry they had made and fondant icing. The lower section coffee and walnut cake. Both were delicious.
Thanks for all your good wishes for my big girl yesterday, today is her actual birthday and thanks to the weather we've had a good three days of celebrating. My sister arrives tomorrow so I'll be able to see how she is doing. She's been off work sick since she was last here in November. At least she didn't have the stroke they feared at first
