Driving home for Christmas
Left Yorkshire at 11 this morning and got home 4.45, which included stopping for an hour to charge the car (again no dramas, mercifully, unlike on our last trip back from the north when we needed rescuing by the RAC). We had breakfast with my brother before we left. Everyone is emotionally wrung out after yesterday’s funeral, which, although beautiful, was also incredibly sad. It was only three weeks ago today that Ms D died, although it seems a lot longer.
On getting home we made tea and cut the cake I had made, seeing as we are now only two days away from Christmas Eve. I have to say it is delicious. Nothing like boozy fruit cake at this time of year. But we have an awful lot of it. Maybe next year I will make a half size one …
