Charmer in a Christmas jumper...
Another early rise.
D took the car to Perth to get winter tyres fitted. He returned with paint charts as we need to decide on a colour for the Team's kitchen.
I had a chat with Nick, the kitchen fitter, as some decisions had to be made re. placement of door handles and whether or not to cut into the wood panelling round the window to continue the splash back. The answer to the second question was no as they are lovely panelled Victorian windows and I don't want them altered. Nick was happy as that meant less cutting for him.
He's hoping to get finished on Saturday but I suspect he might have some last minute things that will spill over into another day. He told me that the job has been a dream as the electrics and water pipe work were straightforward. We discussed the merits and maintenance issues of older homes V new houses and he said he would never buy a new house now. He said his main income comes from fitting kitchens and bathrooms in new houses that are around 6 months old because of shoddy workmanship and shortcuts meaning leaking pipes, porous tile grout and dangerous electrics. One house had polystyrene wall insulation with dodgy electrical wiring running through it. Very dangerous.
Had a chat with Alan about Christmas Day. He is so happy that Christine will be spending it with us again. He adores her :-)
Gift wrapping commenced after lunch and I am delighted to say is now done. Well just one of D's pressies to wrap but it's large and I will do it when he's out of the house. And a silly pressie was delivered for him today that I'd forgotten about. It made me laugh and I hope he will too.
More crochet after dinner than watched the programme about the Wham song Last Christmas. What a lovely man George Michael was, as well as a huge talent.
Another early rise tomorrow as off to Ikea to buy all the accoutrements for the Team's new kitchen. It will be like Supermarket Sweep as I want to get in and out in jig time.
