I woke this morning full of cold and with a raging sore throat, most unusual for me, which meant that I messaged my friend to say I wasn't going to see her this afternoon as she's going through chemo for breast cancer. Shame, because not only did I want to see her before Christmas, but she's recently rescued three chickens and I wanted to meet them!

Yesterday I'd got some of the cheap vegetables from Aldi, today I began to process them, a vegetable and chickpea balti and a winter vegetable slaw... which tastes lovely. Over the weekend I intend to start some red cabbage and carrot sauerkraut and do a batch of vegetable ragu for the freezer. Trouble is, I'm running out of containers! I'll have to resort to freezer bags, which I'll wash and reuse.

My friend Jan in Nottingham, who I'm spending Christmas with, said she wasn't worried that I'd got a cold, she wants me to come anyway. I have tested for covid, although the tests expired in March...

I've done a bit of admin this afternoon, and got my address book up to date..... I'd woken up in the middle of the night worried that my children would have no idea who to inform of my death!!!! You just never know.
