Apple Mint. Mentha Suaveolens.

J prefers this to most other mint leaves that we have tasted. It is easy to grow and the black weed suppressant is not effective for Apple mint. It pops up all over the place.

It grows to a height of 100 cm with bright green leaves which are large, fuzzy and oblong in shape. The leaves measure 3 to 5 cm long and 2 to 4 cm broad, they are hairy on the top and beneath and their edges are serrated.

The flowers are purple to pink in colour, you can see the heads are just beginning to show. The leaves when brushed give out a sweet scent of mint which the cats like to roll in it when I am pulling it from the gravel.
