Day 2 of tree planting with Forestry Initiative
Second day of tree planting - this time in Great Braxted with some more lovely volunteers. It included the secretary of the town council who treated us all to tea and biscuits as a 'thank you'. Greatly appreciated. We planted over 500 british saplings; rowan, hazel, hawthorn, oak and dogwood, with some more established cherries next to the playing field. As we were on the Danbury ridge, formed in the ice age, we had a surprising view for miles to the north. I learned that the grant for the project was available due to the huge incinerator, 8 miles away and visible because of the cranes on the site. I shall return to check on the progress of the trees in 2025.
