Locomotion

We took the girls on the train into Newcastle today. We thought it would be exciting for them to go that way, but after about five minutes Grace and Ophelia declared it to be 'boring' and kept asking were we there yet. In town we took them to the Discovery museum. There's a real life full size ship in the entrance. They didn't bat an eyelid. Grace made a beeline for the Thomas the Tank ride-on toy. Ophelia declared "LOOK! FOOD! BUTTER!" as she clocked the small cafe beside the ship. Ophelia, in fact, moaned her way through most the day (I'm hungry...I'm tired etc even after rest and food), and refused to do as she was told. Grace and Arwen were perfectly behaved, thankfully: both enjoyed the science exploration room and Grace liked reading some of the facts in the historical exhibitions.
We ventured into town for lunch, then had a look round Fenwick's toy hall whilst Hubby disappeared to get youngest daughter's name inked onto his arm next to the others.
Another boring train ride back to Hexham and we set off to drive the rest of the way home, only to be pulled over by the police to let us know we had a flat tyre. It was badly punctured so we needed to buy a replacement and have it fitted.
Although we had to put up with Ophi's behaviour and a couple of mishaps, all in all it was a great day. It was lovely to be all together as a family.
