If you can't beat them...

Roundthorn Garden

Today was out Social Club Christmas lunch.  For the last few years it has been at the Roundthorn "Country House Hotel" up on beacon edge looking out towards the Lake District.  All members apart from 2 managed to attend plus a couple of past members who now live in Penrith.  Things were complicated by my having to arrange an appointment on the phone just as the meal was about to start.

For my memory in future I chose:

Pancetta, Cheddar and Cranberry Croquette
Twice roast featherblade of Lakeland beef with all the usual accompaniments
Christmas Pudding with mulled wine syrup and rum sauce
Coffee and warm Mince pie.

The shot is of a small part of the garden looking out towards Ullswater and the Lake District fells.  Taken late afternoon after the meal had finished.
