I decided to go and get a new battery for the ceiling extractor fan. It hasn’t worked for ages, but we just open the kitchen door when cooking, hence we haven’t bothered fixing it. It uses one of those coin batteries. So Archie and I walked across the Links to the electrical shop. But the electrical shop is no more… I tried a phone shop, and they did have batteries, just not this particular one.
I realised, of course, that I should just order it online. DUH! So I came home and did so. As I pressed ‘buy’ JR came home, and showed me the spare battery we had anyway…
So I set to on the other kitchen appliance not working. A light has gone in our fridge. There was no obvious way to get into it, I’ve had a go before and gave up. The info on the fridge gives a number to ring, and suggests we need a fridge engineer to replace it!!!
But I had another go, with a wee sharp knife. And a screwdriver. So we found the correct light - just little LCD battery things - and at £20 was a fraction of the official price.
On the way down to Tollcross Archie and I came across this useful blackboard, say, for a kitchen. It had a sturdy silver frame. But we have no room for it. Funnily enough, when we walked back down that way again with JR, Archie sat down by the blackboard, which was still there. He obviously thought he should pose again with it! (I had to rub out a few things - there were rude words on it).
Enjoying ‘Wolf Hall’ - binged on the first series, now started the recently finished Series 2. Loving the costumes and the palaces, but much of the devious plotting passes us by. Mark Rylance’s (as Thomas Cromwell) hang-dog expression in almost every scene is quite endearing.
