Moving a monkey
Today was forecast to be rain-free and sunny, so I told gardener Caroline at Dunollie that I'd be down after lunch to help her move a young monkey puzzle tree. Unfortunately the forecast was wrong, and the day began showery. As I drove along the Esplanade a wonderful rainbow appeared and gradually the sky lightened and the sun came out.
This tree had been planted a few years ago at the front of the estate in an area known as the 'World of Trees', but the Dunollie Trust was beginning to use the area for other things such as a café, toilets, childrens' playground and so on, so it had been decided to move this young tree into the Shrubbery, the garden at the back of the house. We carefully dug it up and replanted it among the shrubs with plenty of sky space above it. My Blip today shows Caroline with the newly planted tree.
Back into the town to do some shopping afterwards. Coming out of Tesco's I was met by a wonderful rainbow - my extra today - but without my polarising filter on the picture wasn't as dramatic as it could have been. Just as I got to the car the heavens opened and the sunny day was over!
