Finally!

I occasionally see these small, plump, shiny green flies and have always just called them 'hover bugs' because that's what they do. I believe that it's actually a 'Green Jewel Fly' Ornidia obesa, not to be confused with the Green Bottle Fly. They hover just in front of my face or camera lens darting at right angles, like they're curious about this two-legged and just trying to get a better look. I won't share the less savory aspects of its personality, you can investigate that at your leisure. I've been trying to get a good photo of one for years (no exaggeration)! And finally! m
