Fa la la la la
Couldn’t get to sleep last night at all, yet woke up at usual time so I was expecting to need a nap later today (but didn’t get one in the end!)
Once up I headed straight to the supermarket and got most of the things on my list although Sainsbury’s clearly thing a lot of people are having big celebratory dinners and parties this week not next…large joints and party food expiring today were all reduced (shame my freezer’s not big enough or I could have had some bargains!)
Struggled up the stairs with all the bags then made a big bacon sandwich as I was really hungry before cleaning up the kitchen and putting the shopping away (being creative about where to store more than I usually buy!)
Spent the afternoon making florentine biscuits and marzipanning and icing the cakes I’m gifting to A&N and V.. I started to flag, so spent some time sorting the music for our concert this evening and practicing my part over some tea and an egg nog custard tart.
Set off early to the church, with my mince pies and flask of non-alcoholic mulled wine for the refreshment table. Clearly a well oiled machine in terms of signs, car park organisation, lighted paths and choir members wearing their tinsel and Santa hats. Good to see C again and we chatted til it was time to squish ourselves onto the steps in front of the altar and sing our hearts out. Apart from getting lost in the repeat sections of one song and being very cramped and largely with the tenors rather than altos I really enjoyed it and I think we sounded better than I’d have expected.
W came over to congratulate C and I afterwards and we chatted about Christmas plans.
Drove home…problems parking again which was frustrating but soon enough home for some tea before bed.
