Bread Throwing

I am sure this was banned in our house, none-the-less Little Addington has a bread throwing competition! We are not sure of the origins of the competition - the village did once have a bakery so perhaps it is associated with that. There are men's, women's, and girl's and boy's competitions and posts along the High Street with plaques indicating each year's winners and the length of their throw. For example, in 2003 Jessie Waterfield won the women's competition with a throw of 57 metres - very impressive I thought! Sadly the competition doesn't seem to have taken place in recent years. I imagine it was great fun.

A lovely sunny day with a morning walk and some photography, then a pilates class with Mum. This afternoon I accompanied Steve to his allotment. We picked the last of the broadbeans, some peas and courgettes, along with the first of the Charlotte potatoes - I am looking forward to dinner!
