Go and Don't Look Back...
At last! Today I walked through that hospital door for what I hope is the last time!
Today was Fracture Clinic Day for yet another round of x-rays and a consultation with the orthopaedic surgeon and, this time, (Let the bells ring out. Let the banners fly...) I got the ALL CLEAR!
My bones are healing well...I have no more restrictions - other than common sense..I can drive again...and I do not have to return for any more appointments! I am FREE!
Of course there is still a long road ahead. Apparently, it will take a full year to really recover and even then, I may not get everything back to the way it was before the accident, but those bones have healed themselves as best they can. They have done their bit ..now the rest is up to me...
After all those dark days I had spent in that hospital, it was hard to believe that I had finally reached the light at the end of that long tunnel and could walk out that door never to return. There were times back then when I could not even imagine this day... to be finally released from even out-patient care, to be independent again and well on my way to recovery..
A congratulatory handshake from the doctor, some encouraging waves from the staff, and out those doors I flew...and no looking back.
