Morcambe Bay from Grange over Sands

What an amazing day. From Scotch Corner we travelled, via Mainsgill, to see friends who live in Hampsfield House near Grange for lunch. Three hours ofnon stop talking.

We drove down to Grange for a walk along the Prom and through the town before driving up to Penrith for the next three nights. Today’s blip is of Morcambe Bay and the prom from the footbridge over the railway at the far eastern end of the prom. We walked as far as we could westward then came back through the town which looked very fine with its Christmas lights.

We’re staying in Penrith to do some exploring of the local area with a view to moving up to the area next year. Blipper Nick_T and his partner have only just moved to Penrith from Whitehaven and suggested we met up for a meal which we duly did and had the most enjoyable of evenings in their company.

More than three hours of non stop conversation went by in a flash. In the end we were the last people in the place. So many connections with Kent, rugby, interests and experiences that by the end of the evening we felt we had known them for a very long time. Thank you both for such a warm welcome to Penrith.

What a lovely evening even though my steak was rather tough. It stopped me from talking too much which was probably a good thing and it did result in a coffee on the house!

Tomorrow we’ll spend some time in the town getting to know the streets, shops and attractions. Really looking forward to exploring the area.

Susan has asked me to thank you for all your kind comments on her Christmas card. She was chuffed.
