Time for Christmas music
Some of my Christmas piano music is just holding together. Take this version of Adeste Fideles. It belonged to Mum who played it for years and then I played it every Christmas.
It is a series of variations by W.E. Tipper about whom nothing seems to be known. He also wrote variations on Ye Banks and Braes for flute and piano and a piano only version of The Scottish Boy.
This is typical Victorian parlour music. I’m glad that the notes still fall fairly well under my fingers.
The tattiest (and most loved) of all the Christmas set is Rudolph the Red nosed Reindeer. I learned to play it as a child. You can barely breathe on the copy!
I went with Margret to see the nurses in the Plastic Surgery dressing room this morning. Her wound is doing well and they were pleased with her. They advised increasing the protein in her diet to aid healing. It’s a good idea because the protein content is quite low.
Then I went to see Maureen, back in her care home after fracturing a femur. It has knocked her right back in terms of mobility. She is in too much pain to attempt to walk.
I packed parcels this afternoon.
