One More Week To Go

Once again, it has been the usual Christmas timescale of “still plenty of time to get everything organised…… Oh no, there’s only a week to go!”

Every other Tuesday I normally visit Hazel in her care home with my friend Mary. We discussed it on the phone yesterday in the light of the recent outbreak of norovirus there, and decided not to risk either catching or inadvertently taking in a virus. Hospitals in the UK are currently overflowing with extra patients suffering complications from influenza, norovirus, RSV and Covid which are all doing the rounds, and care homes are understandably a bit nervous about visitors spreading these to elderly residents. Mary and I are going to meet for coffee on Friday morning - just about the only free time either of us have got this week.

So instead it’s been a useful day of getting things done, including writing the last of my Christmas cards (the latest posting day for 2nd class is tomorrow). My brother-in-law phoned to say he had signed and sent back the form for transferring the deeds of the bungalow to me - he is the final one of the three trustees for my late parents’ trusts who all needed to release the property legally. Hopefully everything will be finalised early in the new year.

I went out this afternoon to post the remaining cards and do a bits and pieces shop in Tesco, where I bumped into yesterday’s birthday girl Christine. She was thrilled with how her party went, and also with her spa voucher which all of us in the ladies’ house group got jointly for her so that she can pamper herself in the new year. I’m too busy today to spend much time on a blip, so here are some Christmassy flowers to enjoy.

This evening I will be wrapping gifts for my sister to take over to my niece, great niece, great great niece and great great nephew. I received some videos on WhatsApp today of 5-year-old Hallie’s first ever nativity play - so sweet, and apparently she loved it.
