The Doom Stone
I went into the Minster for the Christmas Tree Festival after I finished my shift in the library, thinking it would make a nice festive blip. It was remarkably underwhelming! The building itself is magnificent, and I could have blipped any one of the fabulous stained glass windows, but, instead, from the crypt, I give you the decidedly non-festive Doom Stone. This is from the first Norman church (12th century) on the site and depicts a gruesome scene of lost souls being slowly pushed into a boiling cauldron by devils and demons. Lovely!
