The challenge

Today in STEM the challenge was to use popsicle sticks, tape, clothes pins, pipe cleaners, and paper to construct a bridge that at least would stand. This group had the fanciest design with pipe cleaners decorating the popsicle sticks. They actually did a really good job and the bottom left photo shows it holding up some coins. This group is the lower EL group, so 1st, 2nd, 3rd graders. They actually did better than the upper EL groups with their constructions. I think the social aspect of the groups made the Upper Els a little less productive.
