The Other St Mary's

Many off you will have seen the cathedral on the 2nd class Christmas stamp this year. It's St Mary's Scottish Episcopal Cathedral on Palmerston Place at the West End of Princes Street.
This is the Roman Catholic Cathedral, also St Mary's, which is at the East end in Picardy Place near to the St James Quarter, rather dwarfed by the centre in this picture.
I was very disappointed to see how neglected the flower beds are in this area which was only recently completed. I know it's winter and not much grows or flowers, but they do look very untended. I fear it won't be long before the Buddleia and Willowherb take hold.
I was in town to meet up with Sheila, a school friend. We had our first babies together back in 1982 and saw a lot of each other. We met up again recently and have discovered the joy of chatty lunches! Today's was in Guiliano's. I probably shouldn't have had the ice cream for dessert!
I popped into M&S on the way home to pick up some finger food for our Bridge Christmas party night - we eat and drink together before playing bridge!
Tonight was not my best night, I think I'll draw a line under it!
Thank you for the concern about my knee. Last night's ibuprofen and early night seems to have sorted it, which is a great relief.
