A weekend of football and celebrations
Up early and thought I’d make the supreme sacrifice and go with Ottawacker Jr. to his U14 soccer match against local powerhouse OSU, who have won indoor leagues for the past couple of seasons. Good game – much better than last week – and he’s growing in confidence. Internationals beat OSU 5-3 – excellent first half when they were winning 5-1, and then took their foot off the gas. This, of course, meant I missed Liverpool vs. Fulham. Not the greatest result, but with English officiating at an all-time low, you salvage what you can. At least Everton did us a favour by drawing with Arsenal.
Back home to watch the second half, and then prepare dinner. Having our neighbours over tonight, one of whom is borderline coeliac. Quite astounding the things you take for granted. So, we are having stew: I’ve had to marinate it in wine instead of Guinness, but hey, I can make a sacrifice or two.
Spent a lot of the afternoon puttering about, and the three of them arrived at 6. Lovely evening, all three of them on good form. Drank too much (again).
