Paddy Mayne

Paddy Mayne was a solicitor in Co Down, he also played international rugby for Ireland, but he is better known as Lieutenant Colonel Robert Blair Mayne, DSO & Three Bars, one of the founder members of the Special Air Service with a distinguish service record in the Second World War.


For UK readers, there is a new BBC series of Rogue Heroes being broadcast early in the new year which you might want to look out for.  The picture is of his statue in Conway Square Newtownards, his home town.
