Life is a Challenge!

IS THAT AN ANGEL I CAN SEE?

We were out of the house well before 8 o’clock this morning in case we got caught up in the “school run” traffic, but fortunately we had a clear run.  You may remember that Mr HCB had an emergency appointment with the dentist today and he wasn’t surprised to the told he had an abscess and the tooth would need to be extracted - so that will be done on Thursday.  Just need to make sure I stock up on the paracetamols.

When we got out of the car, I could see that the sky was looking good over the tented building that used to be a market.  However, it’s now awaiting planning permission before demolition - another building in a sorry state in our town centre!

Having taken the shot, which shows the moon if you look closely, I thought I could see an angel in the sky!  There was no singing, so this was obviously not one of the “angelic host” but just a lone angel, probably looking for some shepherds, abiding somewhere - but I’m sure they won’t be abiding in our town centre because it is not very good at the moment and anyway who wants sheep running around while trying to do last-minute Christmas shopping?

The painting on the wall at the right may seem familiar - I actually took a shot of this during the Swindon Paintfest on 30th August this year.

Mr. HCB wasn’t so fortunate with his GP appointment, as he had a message from the surgery just after 7.30 to say that his doctor was ill, so they would have to rearrange the appointment scheduled for 9.20 but it is now past midday and he still hasn’t heard!  He has just rung them, but they said they were waiting to see if his doctor would be back in tomorrow and then they will call him.

We decided as we were out, that we would go up to Jack’s to have a quick coffee and Mr. HCB also had some toast, slathered with butter and jam - which I could tell he enjoyed, particularly as he hasn’t been eating well for the last few days as his mouth has been quite sore.  I just watched and felt very virtuous - in fact, speaking of angels, there was probably a halo hovering around my head!!

When we got home, I rang Dreamland about my faulty electric throw and was dealt with very courteously by Julia - who said I needed to return it to them and she would send me an email detailing how to do it.  I explained about the neuropathy in my legs and feet and said I needed my throw, so she arranged to send me a new one immediately - so I was happy with that.  It has now been parcelled up and taken over to the Post Office so I’m happy it is now on its way back to Dreamland and will look forward to receiving the new one very soon.

This afternoon, I am at a Friends and Fun Christmas Party at the Church, to which all our Community Fridge customers have been invited - so that should be a rowdy afternoon with games and then Carols in the Church.  I am reading a poem from a Christmas Anthology put together by Alan Titchmarsh - he of the BBC Gardeners’ World TV programme - entitled “Jesus’ Christmas Party” by Nicholas Allan.  I hope they will all enjoy it.

Take care and stay warm - it looks reasonable out there, but there is a chilly nip to the wind.  M xx
