River Runners

We had a fantastic first overnight rafting trip for Owen on the Deschutes. The long drive and 200+ yard hike to the put-in were tough, but now we know of a better launch point. Wish we could have stayed out another night. We saw lots of wildlife including osprey, bald eagle, bats, swifts, river otter, fish and a crayfish. Giant ponderosa pines were scattered about the forest and we enjoyed peeling the puzzle bark on one our or campsite. There was some forest violence at camp once John showed O how to chop dead limbs off the down debris. Owen thought it was funny (ironic) that he was eating goldfish crackers while we floated on the river.
