Time

A quick.trip to Morningside this afternoon as, in between shops, I tried to get my Christmas shopping done.

In my teenage years I grew up in Morningside and this clock was always a feature at the main junction. Indeed, I’m told when we lived to the east on occasion I used to get the train to school though I have no recollection of that!

The clock, which has been relocated over the years is made by James Ritchie & Son, a long established Edinburgh clock maker who designed the first floral clock in the world, presented a clock to St Giles, and has a chiming clock in the National Museum of Scotland.

The firm has moved location over the years but is still operating. It restored our grandfather clock a few years back.
