My favourite oak

It’s like an old friend.
It’s by the road, near a small reserve, on my way home. I often stop, stroll gently, and enjoy the changing light and the pattern of clouds in blue skies.

Christmas cards. Ridiculous postage charges. Is it one of the chores of Christmas ? People make comments as though it is. Lockdown, ecards, and rising costs made us look again.

I had a lovely delivery of a lot of cards earlier in the week. (In Lichfield post is intermittent- nothing for four days and then a pile of stuff with different postmark dates). It really made me think.

I’m so lucky to be remembered by so many lovely people. I don’t think I’ve ever appreciated cards as much as I am this year. Lots of lovely memories in the words inside.

I’ve spent a lovely couple of hours writing and posting some of mine. For every one, I’ve thought carefully about lovely memories, how I got to know them, when I last saw or spoke to them.

I’m not dreading rushing to send the rest. I’m just going to make the most of the experience.
