Protest
In all my 77 years I’ve never been part of a protest. I have photographed protests but never been part of one. Well, today that changed. This one was peaceful and static! Nicely situated under the trees adjacent to the hospital. Two weeks ago was the first protest which I didn’t go, but since then the doctors, nurses, managers, council and many others have been squirrelling away . So much so that yesterday these decisions were reversed and reported in The Timaru Herald this morning.…..
Copied from The Timaru Herald -“The proposal, announced by Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora in a nationwide report in October, would have seen Health New Zealand’s South Canterbury’s chief medical officer, director of nursing and director of Allied Health and midwifery roles moved from Timaru to Southern Health in Dunedin”.
Well done them and the protesters both today and two weeks ago along with the many that had signed a petition.
A good number of speeches from doctors, hospital chaplain and our Mayor thanking them and the public for getting behind our wonderful hospital.
Very happy, just shows how worthwhile these protests and petitions are.
Reached 30° today, phew!
