Street in the Boca Ciega Millennium Park

Finding an interesting street photo for the July Heartfreek Challenge was very hard today. I guess I was very uninspired while I was out and about to take any photos. My helpful husband suggested I take a quick trip to my favorite place right around the corner to the Boca Ciega Millennium Park. I have walked or rode my bike in this park thousands of times. It is a place of exercise and mediation for me. There is a Paw playground for the dogs, Moira has a great play area, and of course there are lots of opportunities to take photos of the wildlife in this park.

The park supports seven natural communities: pine flatwoods, coastal oak hammock, mangrove swamp, salt marsh, bay head and wetlands. It is also recognized by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's "Great Florida Birding Trail". This is a photographer's paradise. Several years ago it was a seventeen year old high school student, taking photographs in the park, who made a major discovery of fossils. She found the bones of a Columbian Mammoth, Giant Sloth, Giant Armadillo, Saber Tooth Cat, Camel and many more amphibians, reptiles and fish. The fossils are now at the Museum of Natural History in Gainesville. Before they removed them, we were able to see the fossils in their natural beds. Parks hold so much to see, learn, experience and enjoy. So, here is one of my favorite streets......in the Park!
