Light in the darkness

Sadly, I have spent a lot of time looking at all these candles on the altar this afternoon because I’ve been to two funerals at our church, two hours apart.

They were for two lovely Christian women – the first went out from this church to be a medical missionary in northern Argentina, where she served for 30 years, and the second was a much-loved member of the congregation whose love and faith shone out of her and remained constant throughout her final, difficult illness and treatment.

On a lighter note, Father Christmas asked me this morning if I would be so good as to print off a note for him (I expect his printer had broken). He wanted to write to our youngest two granddaughters to explain that he was leaving a few presents at their house early this year because they would be going to spend Christmas in Poland. He did, however, assure them that he would also be calling in to them in Poland on Christmas Eve, as is the custom over there. He’s very thoughtful.
