Seasonal confusion

For the past few days it has been cold with a biting wind coming down from the Sierra Nevada, not getting above 10C and in the evenings and early mornings it's been down to 4C/5C. And yet there is almond blossom appearing on the trees. I cannot recall seeing the almond trees in blossom in mid-December. There are no bees around.

In extra, the little outdoor window pots are all cleaned out and waiting for the spring!
