Protected Roses

All the roses in the Vienna Volksgarten are covered in hessian sacks to protect them during the winter. There are hundreds of them. A very strange sight but guess it “pays off” in the summer!!

Almost all of them (the roses, not the sacks) are dedicated to people with small plaque on their stems, as are the benches and most of the trees.
