Being a novice photographer is a bit like singing karaoke: you think that because you know all the words to 'You're So Vain' you will give a worthy performance, ten seconds in and it is painfully apparent to all that Carly Simon you are not. Today I saw these rows of runner beans and thought 'Ooh, perspective, perspective! A good photographer could do something really clever with this!" Then you plonk your daughter in the middle of the shot and realise that knowing that this shot has perspective potential is just not enough. Nevertheless, I like the fact that my daughter has just turned 5 but is standing like a bored supermodel.
