Collecting Norman

I bought my first Norman Wade screenprint in 1978 as a Christmas present for my parents. It was a view of Durham Cathedral that looked as if it had been drawn from my college rooms. It is now on the wall in our lounge. At that time the Wades had a gallery in Sadler Street, not five minutes walk from college. It was a canny move as lots of students bought Norman's prints as gifts or memorabilia. Over the years we've continued to collect his typically earthy toned screenprints of Durham Cathedral. The latest is a small print dated 1970 which we have bought as a Christmas gift for our new home.  It arrived this morning and I will set about re-framing it tomorrow.
