Dinner Disappointment

I was so looking forward to dinner tonight; a restaurant I loved that closed used to do this amazing battered fish in black bean sauce with mushroom fried rice, and so I decided to try to recreate it. Sadly, the black bean sauce I bought was absolutely gross, super sour, salty, and barely edible to be honest. So bad I actually dug the pouch back out of the bin to make sure I hadn't been sold expired goods. The rice was nice but I had been so looking forward to a delicious fish dinner, but I ended up having to really scrape the sauce off so as not to waste the fish.
