Because of this it helps them run across sandy surfaces. The ability to do so is important for when they forage along the oceans edge. Always at the shoreline running and foraging. Saw this one all by itself yesterday. I was wondering where its friends were. A group of sanderlings is called a “grain”. Pretty cool, huh?
