a lifetime burning

Quito - Last Day

It's the last day of the Ecuador and the Galapagos Trip.  I'm due at the airport at 2pm local time and will arrive home mid afternoon UK time, all being well.  Hopefully the luggage will come with me.  The couple that departed last night using Iberia have been told on arrival today that their luggage is in Madrid.

As you will have seen, I've uploaded the entries from the last 3 days of the Amazon section during the course of this morning.

I've also taken the chance to do a little but of last minute bird watching.  In the case of my blip this is the rufous sparrow, which has had the misfortune to have had a Cowbird lay its eggs in the sparrow's nest - just like a cuckoo does.  Now the poor little sparrow is running around desperately trying to find food for the enormous progeny of the Cowbird.

I'm signing off from Ecuador now.  I hope that you've enjoyed my record of the trip.  I've only scratched the surface of what this country has to offer in wildlife terms. I very much hope that it manages to get on top of its drug cartel issue and that its tourism industry can fully recover.
