Delphiniums

On a day of intermittent sun and showers and amid rushing around, it was a relief to go to the park for a quiet walk. The herbaceous border is as beautiful as ever, with new blooms following the seasons and making it look quite different every few weeks. Today it was the turn, amongst others, of the lovely delphiniums, blue scabious and bright red montbretia. Next week it will be different again. And between now and this time next week, we're on our travels again. This time it's a short break in Scotland, booked and paid months ago when the snow was still deep, and intended as a birthday treat for my husband. It was booked long, long before our extended stay in Wales and if I had known we'd linger so long by the seaside I would certainly have chosen a different date. But it's booked, so I'm running around packing again, but at the same time looking forward to our few days in Scotland.
