Hungry swans

I hadn't seen the swans here since I posted a blip of them on November 27, and I've walked or driven by several times since then. Not sure where they've been. I was delighted to see them today, ten of them. A woman was standing at the edge of a driveway across the road from the beach as I approached, and we started chatting. She said that she was just about to go across to feed them but hesitated because she didn't know if I'd object. She has mixed feelings about feeding them, but her neighbours have been giving them barley and they asked her to take over while they're away for a few days. I've seen those people feeding swans here for a few years now. I said that I was okay with her feeding them, so we went down to the water and she tossed barley into the water for them. I added an extra of her with all ten swans.  Have to admit that I have mixed feelings too and don't want wildlife to get used to being fed if there's enough food in the environment for them. We do have bird feeders at our place. Anyone have any comments about this?
A good walk this morning. I washed the kitchen floor when I got home and did laundry. Glad to get some housework done.
