Visit from the scouts and reindeer

There was a knock at the front door when we were eating dinner this evening. It was the local scouts, raising money by touring the village with this blipped illuminated reindeer display that blasts out loud Christmas tunes. I'm not sure whether our donation was in appreciation of the scouts' efforts, or to hasten them on their way.

We popped into town this morning to browse the charity shops and try (and fail) to get my father-in-law's mobile phone fixed.

This afternoon we roosted at the house. I wrote a blog post about Bruce's recent grant success, and prepared a journal manuscript for upload to the University repository now that the actual published version of the article is available from journal itself. I also started making arrangements to visit care homes in Newcastle with my not-so-little sister next week on Thursday 19th December.

On our last night with his parents, Mr hazelh and I cooked supper for everyone. We are now settling down for the evening and the quizzes.

I hope that I sleep better tonight. The only advantage of my insomnia last night is that I finished reading The story of a heart by Rachel Clarke. Thank you to rosewiles7 for the recommendation.

Exercise today: none (again).
