Stormy Swim

Swam in heavy shower and hail this evening. Air temp was 11C and with the wind chill felt like 7C (according to Met Office), wind 18kts gusting 39kts.

It was a little unpleasant peeling off my swim robe by the pool but once in the water (20C) it felt great apart from when hail started pummelling my shoulders. So I took deep breaths and swam under the water for eight strokes of front crawl instead of breathing every six.

The lifeguards had a little tent but towards the end of the session the wind whipped up and it looked like it might blow over. I got out of the water 10 mins early so they could pack up and get the pool covers on.

The drive home was a bit dicey down the country lanes avoiding fallen branches. Stormy weather forecast until the end of the weekend so I suspect I’ll have to miss my swims due to the journey.
